Environmental Policy

The Management of Charltons Sweeper Hire Ltd recognise the environmental implications of their activities, and are committed to respecting and protecting the environment and will strive for continual improvement in our environmental performance. Environmental issues will be an integral and fundamental part of our day-to-day operations.


Charlton Sweeper Hire Ltd will:

• Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and approved codes of practice.


• Assess the environmental impact of all current and likely future operations.


• Establish and review environmental objectives and performance targets based on this policy.


• Reduce pollution, emissions and waste through the risk assessment process, operational control measures and adequate training and supervision i.e. reduction of noise by implementing an effective maintenance regime and the modification of plant and equipment where practicables.


• Attempt wherever possible to re-use and re-cycle waste i.e. our waste oil is collected monthly for re-cycling.


• Reduce the use of any hazardous substances wherever possible, by using Appropriate alternatives.


• Minimise the use of natural resources where possible and purchase re-cycled or environmentally friendly products and materials as far as possible.


• Continually aim to minimise the consumption of energy through effective energy management systems.


• Prevent contamination of land or water arising from our company’s operations i.e. through the control of spillages from our work activities.


• Raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in environmental matters to ensure that they understand and are able to contribute to our policy in their daily work activities.


• Liase with the local community, as appropriate, in order to minimise the environmental impact of our operations.


• Communicate our policy internally and externally to interested parties.


• Enhance the environmental awareness of our employees through the provision of suitable training and information.


• Assist clients and customers to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way and expect similar environmental standards from our suppliers and contractors.

Appropriate resources will be made available to ensure that the policy is
effectively implemented. This policy statement will be reviewed annually and amended to reflect any changes to the company’s activities and working practices.
